Do you guys like seeing the hashtag #StopAsianHate on Instagram, Twitter, or other social media platforms, P-assangers? Do you guys see that some public figures in the United States are supporting this hashtag on their stories or in their feeds? Do you guys want to know what that hashtag means? Let’s just discuss it!
Stop Asian Hate is a form of reaction carried out by Asian descendants living in the United States in response to the crimes committed by anti-Asian people in the United States. The anti-Asian violence was influenced by a deep sense of racism towards Asian people living in this country.
The movement received attention as a result of the posts of many well-known brands and public figures on their social media platforms such as Instagram and Twitter. Following that, demonstrations were held by Asian citizens living in the U.S. using items such as banners, posters, etc to express their anger with the discrimination they had received so far.
Initially, it was thought to have started after the 45th president of the United States, Donald Trump, claimed that China was the mastermind behind the COVID-19 pandemic, on which we have already felt the impact.
However, the peak of this movement occurred after the shooting of 8 women who worked in a massage parlor, and six of them were Asian women. As a result of the shooting attacks carried out by a religious man but having problems in his sexual health, Robert Aaron Long, Asian citizens immediately gathered and demonstrated outside the Government of the Capital City of Georgia, Atlanta.
The government of the United States has reacted to the citizen protest. For the time being, Joe Biden, the 46th President of the United States, has signed an executive order aimed at ending anti-Asian discrimination committed in January.
What are your opinions on this, P-assangers? Racism is the most violent trait and action there is, and it should never be accepted. Hopefully, this situation can end quickly and the affected Asian people can get the justice they deserve.
