Well, World Animal Day is on October 4th is an annual international day for animal rights and welfare. Its main mission is to help raise the welfare of all animals across the globe. Isn’t that nice?

The first Animal Day was celebrated on March 24, 1925, in Berlin, Germany. It was found by Heinrich Zimmerman and the first event held about 5,000 people. In 1929, World Animal Day was held on October 4th in Sport Palace, the day it was intended to be in the first place because the location was unavailable 4 years before.

It’s celebrated on this day because it’s the feast day of Francis of Assisi, the patron saint of ecology and animals. He called all creatures ‘brothers and sisters’ and even preached to the animals. Legend has it that he was able to talk to animals. Despite St. Francis being of the Catholic church, World Animal Day is now celebrated in a variety of ways, with no regard to nationality, religion, or political ideology.

People all over the world have been trying to raise awareness for animals by trending #WorldAnimalDay every October 4th on many social media platforms, spreading information, and urging humans to take better care of the animals and the natural environment that we share with them. From common people to celebrities, these people started adopting, donating, and educating for the sake of the animals. Over 1000 events are held all over the world, annually.
