What’s up P-assengers, back again with PIDAS81’s article. How’s it going? We hope you are well and happy. Even though schools are no longer in person, we have to keep the spirit alive, P-assengers. Back to topic, E-Sports or electronic sports are sports fields that use games as a competitive field. We all know E-Sport, the dream of almost every kid and teenager. But, before becoming an e-sports player, let’s see what E-Sports will be like in the future.
The rise of e-sports has been astronomical, the tremendous growth has taken the media and entertainment industry by surprise, with a survey forecasting the E-Sports audience to grow to 434 million viewers this year. The popularity of e-sports has increased dramatically during the pandemic. This happens because many people are stuck at home and need new entertainment. Closed TV sports and entertainment events also help accelerate the rise of e-sport. Streaming is the only way to get entertainment content.
So, what will the future of e-sports look like? Judging by the staggering numbers presented in the infographic below and created by the team at NJ Games, we can expect e-sports to grow and become more influential in the future. Total revenue from e-sports is increasing from year to year. In 2012, the total revenue from investment in game publishers, online advertising merchandise, sponsors, tickets, and licenses were $130 million. Compared to revenue in 2021, which was $1,385 billion we can see how fast the e-sport is growing.
But, we don’t know for sure what the future will be like. It could be that in the next 10 years e-sports fans will decrease drastically. On the other hand, it can be the gaming industry is growing rapidly and getting better, this also encourages e-sports to become even bigger.
E-Sports is an Olympics which is not easy to compete in. It requires years of dedication and hard work. Moreover, the gaming industry will be even stricter in the future. There will come a time when e-sports will be on par with the Olympics or even more than the Olympics.
