Hi, P-assangers! How have you been doing lately? We hope you had a great week! For today’s article, PIDAS81 would like to bring you all a very interesting topic. Can you guys guess what it is? Yep, the Super Blood Moon of 2021! Let’s jump right in to the article, shall we?
The Super Blood Moon Phenomenon of 2021. You have to be wondering, what makes this one so special? Well, not only was this the largest full moon in 2021, but the added lunar eclipse that happened on May 26 was the only total lunar eclipse in 2021! The lunar eclipse created an eerie red hue to our beloved moon, which could be seen only for a total of 16 minutes.
According to NASA, a blood moon happens during a lunar eclipse, when the Earth is positioned directly between the moon and the sun. On the other hand, a supermoon happens when it’s at its closest point to Earth in its orbit, also known as perigee, making it appear much larger than normal.
Sadly, not everyone around the world could see this interesting phenomenon. No, the Super Blood Moon could only be seen by the western parts of America, the Pacific Islands, some parts of Asia, and all of Australia. The best view fell on Australia, New Zealand, Papua New Guinea and Hawaii.
More remarkably, this phenomenon could only be viewed every 195 years, so better luck next time for those that didn’t or couldn’t! Also, the Super Blood Moon of 2021 could be seen with our naked eyes, without any protection! Did you know that it also heightened the high tide?
Well, P-assangers, did you see the Super Blood Moon of 2021? If you didn’t, then that’s fine, because you can always see the breathtaking pictures and videos that some people took of the phenomenon on the internet! That’s all for today’s article, P-assangers. PIDAS81 hopes that it entertained you as much as it entertained us. Have a great week, and stay safe, happy and healthy P-assangers! See you next time!
